Anton Forsberg stunned his former team with a 17-save shutout to lead the Los Angeles Kings to their fourth consecutive win with a hard-fought 1-0 road victory over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.
Forsberg, who spent a total of five seasons with the Senators between 2020-2025, improved his career record to 3-0-0 against his former squad with the shutout effort.
Alex Laferriere scored the game's lone goal, while Linus Ullmark made 17 saves in the Senators' crease.
The Kings did suffer a possibly big loss in the win though as top blueliner Drew Doughty left the contest in the second period after blocking a shot.
The Kings took the early lead and held onto it as Laferriere tipped in Mikey Anderson's point shot with just over 10 minutes remaining in the opening frame.
Quinton Byfield also recorded an assist on Laferriere's goal to extend his point streak to three games (2 goals, 3 assists).
Ottawa struggled out the gate, failing to produce a shot on goal until Claude Giroux's wrist shot was blockered away by Forsberg just under 13 minutes into the first period.
Giroux had another shot at finding an equalizer for the Senators with just under three minutes left in the second period, but Forsberg once again had the answer as he punched away the veteran's attempt.
Tim Stutzle had a great opportunity to tie things up for the Senators with just over 12 minutes left in the third, but sent his hard slot shot over the net after taking a pass from Drake Batherson.
The Kings had a chance of their own just moments later after Jordan Spence took a tripping penalty, but Ullmark got in front of Anze Kopitar's in-close rebound shot.
Trevor Moore nearly tallied the Kings' second goal of the game on the same man advantage, but Ullmark redirected the shot off the crossbar and over the glass.
Ridly Greig looked poised to equalize, but Forsberg denied his backhand shot with 8:39 left in the third period.
With the regulation loss, the Senators saw their seven-game point streak (4-0-3) come to an end. Meanwhile, the Kings secured their ninth road win of the season, the most in the NHL.
