Jacob Trouba scored with 31.5 seconds left in overtime to lead the Anaheim Ducks to their sixth straight victory, 4-3, over the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday night in Las Vegas.
Trouba, who also had an assist, took a pass from Leo Carlsson while breaking down the right wing and then cut in front on the net and stuffed a backhand shot through the pads of Akira Schmid for the game-winner.
Carlsson scored two goals and had an assist to extend his point streak to nine games, Olen Zellweger had two assists and Frank Vatrano also scored for Anaheim. It was the first multi-goal game of the season for Carlsson.
Petr Mrazek made 36 saves for the first-place Ducks, who increased their Pacific Division lead to three points over the Seattle Kraken and the Golden Knights.
Brett Howden, Pavel Dorofeyev and Kaeden Korczak scored goals for Vegas, which suffered its second straight loss and fifth in the last seven games. Schmid finished with 25 saves.
Vegas took a 1-0 lead at the 5:47 mark of the first period on Howden's wrist shot from the low slot off a pass from William Karlsson.
Anaheim tied it at 15:49 when Vatrano deflected Zellweger's one-timer from the left point inside the far right post.
The Ducks took a 2-1 lead midway through the second period when Troy Terry took the puck from Noah Hanifin along the left boards and then fed Carlsson, who roofed a backhand shot from the low slot.
Anaheim took advantage of another Vegas turnover by the right boards with 3:10 left in the period. Zellweger passed to Carlsson at the bottom of the right circle where he fired a wrist shot that trickled through Schmid's pads.
The Golden Knights cut the lead to 3-2 at 3:56 of the third period on a power-play goal by Dorofeyev, who picked up a loose puck in the right circle and then fired a wrist shot from the high slot past Mrazek's stick side. It was his team-leading 10th goal.
Korczak then tied it with 5:07 remaining when he roofed a wrist shot from the slot through traffic to set the stage for overtime.
